Ingredients
Channa dal-1/4 cup
Moong dal-1/4 cup
Cabbage-1 medium size
Red chilli-2
Coconut -5 tbsp(shredded)
Cumin seeds-2tbsp
Hing
Coconut oil
Curry leaves
Method
In a vessel, boil the channa dal and moong dal together for about 20 min,till it becomes soft.Don't overcook it,make sure it is not mussy.Meanwhile, in a pressure cooker put the chopped cabbage with 1/2 glass of water, wait for one whistle,that is enough,the cabbage will get cooked soon.Turn off the flame.In a blender add shredded coconut,cumin seeds and 1red chilli,grind them like a thick paste.When the air went,open the cooker and add cooked dal,coconut paste and pour half glass of water to it,now the cabbage and dal will mix together.Cook till the raw smell of coconut paste go off, for this,it will take about 7 min.Turn off the flame and transfer it to another bowl.Finally it's time for seasoning,in a skillet,heat 2 tbsp of coconut oil, put hing,mustard seeds if it splutters add cumins seeds and curry leaves.Add this seasoning to kootu.The kootu will be nice for idllis,dosas,chappathi and also for rice.
Note
For seasoning the kootu, use coconut oil it will give you the better taste.
